This 1 km bicycle path illuminates with unique magical patterns

Dutch designer, Daan Roosegaarde has designed a 600 metres long glow-in-the-dark bicycle path inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s painting “The Starry Night.” The kilometer-long stretch is paved with thousands of solar-powered, glass coated, sparkling stones which have generated over 3,000kwh.

This innovative bicycle path runs where Vincent van Gogh lived from 1883 to 1885 and illuminates with unique magical patterns. The goal is to make smart roads by using light, energy and road signs that interact with the traffic situation. This is enough to provide a single-person household with electricity for a year.

The glow-in-the-dark stones absorbs energy during the day and magically glow after dark.
